Bougainvillea

Bougainvillea cvs.

Bougainvillea, Bougainvillea cvs.

It isn't the flowers that make this plant so colorful, it's actually the magenta bracts. The flowers are just tiny and white - take a closer look!

The bracts can be seen in all shades of pink, purple, red, yellow, white, salmon and orange. The bougainvillea is Granada's national flower.

Although native to the tropical and sub-tropical regions of Central and South America, bougainvillea is cultivated in warm climes throughout the world. Bougainvillea requires a fair amount of water and high fertility soil.
